Limitarianism: Pattern, Principle, or Presumption?

In this article, I assess the prospects for limitarian thesis that someone has too much wealth if they exceed a specific threshold. Limitarianism claims there are good political and/or ethical reasons to prevent people from having such ‘surplus wealth’, example, because it no moral value holder or allowing have surplus less than redistributing it. Drawing on recent literature distributive justice, defend two types of principles justice. First, midlevel draw specify normative commitments guiding institutional design and individual actions. Second, presumption draws what just allocation requires under epistemic constraints. Such says without substantive contrary, we should regard distribution as unjust some people’s exceeds Furthermore, will argue must reject possible but implausible interpretation limitarianism an ideal pattern. Yet both principle presumption, can play important role in theorizing about justice real world.
